Corona is causing havoc in many countries of the world including China. The World Health Organization (WHO) recently reported that cases of the XBB.1.5 variant have been found in 38 countries. Of these, only this variant is responsible for 82 percent of corona cases in America. At the same time, eight percent of Britain’s and two percent of Denmark’s corona cases are due to this variant. Meanwhile, according to the claim of a study, the new variant of Corona XBB.1.5 is affecting more vaccinated people and people who have been infected with Corona than other variants.
This variant spreads very fast
The XBB.1.5 strain is a member of the Omicron XBB variant family, which is a recombinant virus of the Omicron BA.2.10.1 and BA.2.75 sub-variants. XBB and XBB.1.5 are responsible for 44 percent of corona cases in the US. According to the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), the subvariant is currently spreading 12.5 percent faster in the US than the other variant.
Total 26 cases of this variant in India
According to the data released three days ago by INSACOG, a total of 26 cases of XBB.1.5 of Corona have been found in India. This variant has so far been found in 11 states and union territories. These include Delhi, Maharashtra and West Bengal. XBB.1.5 is responsible behind the huge jump in COVID cases in the United States.
In the first week of January, 30 percent of the cases were of this variant.
According to Reuters, this subvariant accounted for 30 percent of cases in the first week of January, which is more than the 27.6 percent the CDC estimated last week. A recent study by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene showed that XBB.1.5 is the fastest-spreading variant of COVID-19, as far as we know.
Compared to the rest of the variants, it is more likely to infect those people who have been vaccinated against Corona. or who have had a previous illness with COVID-19. However, there is still an urge to promote vaccination. Because Covid vaccine and updated booster dose is the best way to prevent this disease.
