The race to the IPL final is heating up with only a few games left in the league stage. Qualifiers and eliminators will determine who will be the champion team this year. But that’s not all – the World Test Championship is just around the corner. India and Australia will face off in the final on June 7. So, there’s plenty of cricket to look forward to in the coming weeks!
What will Team India do after this? The current schedule has them touring the West Indies in July, but that has been delayed. In the meantime, they’re playing another series in June. The tentative dates have been revealed, but the schedule has not yet been announced.
Can play three match ODI series against Afghanistan:
After the WTC final, the Indian team is planning to play the ODI series against Afghanistan in June itself. It is being told that BCCI and Afghanistan Cricket Board are ready for the series, and the dates of which can be announced soon. The ODI World Cup will be played in India from October to November this year, keeping this in mind the series has been decided.
The much-anticipated three-match ODI series between India and Afghanistan is set to take place in India, starting from June 16. This series will provide a great opportunity for the players of both teams to get some practice in before the ICC World Cup 2019. What’s more, this series is not mentioned in the ICC’s future tour schedule, making it all the more special.
Although there is a possibility of change somewhere in this, the series will end by the end of June. The matches of this series may be shown on a channel in India, but BCCI can announce it as soon as the schedule is fixed.
Big players can get rest:
Meanwhile, Team India’s selection for the upcoming series is up in the air. With so many of the team’s big players currently playing in the IPL, it’s possible that some of them will be rested for the series. Players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma could be given a break, and the team’s fringe players could be given a chance to show their worth. Some names that could come up for consideration are Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rinku Singh. However, the final decision is yet to be made.
