Resignation of Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain from Delhi government, CM Kejriwal accepted

The resignations of Delhi government ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain have been accepted.

New Delhi. Delhi government ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendra Jain resigned from their posts in the state cabinet. At the same time, CM Arvind Kejriwal has accepted his resignation. Manish Sisodia had 18 ministries which will now be given to Kailash Gehlot and Rajkumar Anand. After the arrest of Satendra Jain, Jain’s ministry was also handed over to Manish Sisodia. Satendra Jain was a minister without any portfolio since June 2022. The CBI arrested Manish Sisodia on Sunday evening after nearly eight hours of questioning for alleged corruption in the implementation of the 2021-22 excise policy.

The probe agency says that there were irregularities in both the formulation and implementation of the excise policy and it was allegedly aimed at benefiting people associated with the Aam Aadmi Party. Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia was earlier questioned on 17 October 2022. A month later, on November 25 last year, the CBI filed its charge sheet. The CBI had not named Sisodia in the charge sheet as the central probe agency had kept the investigation open against him and other suspects and accused.

Satyendra Jain was arrested by ED, accused in hawala case
Before Sisodia, AAP minister Satyendar Jain was arrested by the ED in May last year in another money laundering case related to alleged hawala transactions. 58-year-old Jain has also been questioned in the excise policy ‘scam’ case.
