Pakistan: Imran Khan can be arrested anytime! FIA made a plan, Lahore police will help

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan may be arrested soon.

Islamabad. Amidst the political uproar in Pakistan, former Prime Minister Imran Khan may be arrested soon. Top FIA sources told CNN-News18 on Monday that Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency has decided to arrest PTI chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan in a banned funding case.

Sources said that the agency has constituted a four-member team for the arrest and the Lahore Police will cooperate in this. He said that a summary has been sent to the Director General of the FIA for final approval. Meanwhile, a large number of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers are present outside Zaman Park. This security is regarding the expected appearance of Imran Khan in the Lahore High Court for bail.

The Lahore High Court had ordered the former PM to appear in person at 2 pm, but he did not reach there till the last report was received. PTI sources said that during his presence in Lahore, Imran Khan is expected to be arrested by the FIA in another case. Imran Khan’s junior lawyers told the court that they have security concerns and there is also a huge gathering of PTI workers outside Zaman Park. After which the Lahore High Court later adjourned the hearing till 5 pm.

Justice Tariq Salim said that the court is issuing show cause notice to Imran. The lawyers of the former PM had requested the High Court not to do so. Justice Salim said, “You should answer the show cause… If the court is satisfied then the show cause will be disposed of… You are making a mockery of the law.” You cannot withdraw a bail application with a forged signature. I issue a show cause notice to Imran Khan and give a date of three weeks.”

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on February 2 dismissed a petition filed by PTI against the decision of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in the banned funding case. Let us tell you that the FIA has registered a case against Imran Khan and 10 others for receiving foreign donations. The First Information Report (FIR) states that the accused, including the former PM, violated the Foreign Exchange Act and all named persons were beneficiaries of private bank accounts.
